The test procedure:
The lymph node tissue is homogenised in one simple step prior to analysis. Further filtration of the RNA is not required. The samples are then processed and measured under standardised conditions in the RD-100i, an automated real time analyser. Up to four lymph nodes (up to 8 samples for colon cancer) can be analysed in parallel. The results are available in approximately 30 minutes.
The device features a 16-minute amplification reaction in real time. Depending on the number of measured copies of the mRNA marker, the results are shown in one of three categories:
(++) = Indication for a macro metastatic tumour burden
(+) = Indication for a micro metastatic tumour burden
(–) = No metastatic disease
